I built Tourbox.","For the best part of a decade I was the engineer behind the internal systems at Selective Asia, a Brighton tour operator. I sat close to the people doing the work, building itineraries, chasing suppliers, raising invoices and looking after travellers, so I saw what helped them and what got in their way.","What got in their way, again and again, was software. Tools that did not fit how the work happened, or were so fiddly that people spent the day working around them instead of with them. That always bothered me. I like building systems people understand and are glad to use, and keeping them up to date rather than letting them go stale.","Tourbox grew out of that. I took what I learned about how a tour business actually runs and built it from scratch, on a modern stack, as something any operator can pick up, not just the one I built it for.
